Hollowness is something we all experience; for some, it may last a moment, for others it could last a lifetime. Hollow is a body of work that investigates society’s fragmented perception of women, as well as women’s distorted perception of themselves. For much of her life, Harrison viewed her body as a hollow shell, allowing people to use her, and try to fill her, in an attempt to feel whole. As a woman, this left her with an estranged relationship with her body, which she explores in these paintings. Harrison’s hope is that her work can create intimate conversation amongst strangers.
Hollow will be on display May 3rd - May 6th.
